WATER LILIES

There are many varieties of water lily, whose correct botanical name is nymphaea. This name is derived from the nymphs of Greek mythology who are said to have lived in springs or streams. The water lily lives in tropical and subtropical regions, but the water lilies we know in our gardens are hybrids. These are some of the most beautiful plants, adapting equally well to the depth and surface area of ponds.

There are over 150 hardy varieties, many of which are little-known. Les Jardins d'Eau invite you to discover a collection of 55 of the most beautiful varieties, with highly variable development and colour.

Exotic water lilies, with their delicate, subtle fragrance, have the special feature - compared with hardy water lilies - of being able to rise around 20 cm above the water. They are rarely grown in Europe because of the care they need: lots of light and warmth in particular.

A paradise for frogs and Koi carps

At the Jardins d'Eau, you and your children will be enchanted to discover countless frogs of all sizes, gambusi (small fish that eat mosquito larvae, very useful when you have a leisure pond), dragonflies and damselflies, and magnificent Koi carps that you will possihly feed.
